How to improve AI visibility.

A six-step program for moving your AI visibility score — built from the patterns that consistently work across categories.

TL;DR
To improve AI visibility: diagnose prompt-level gaps, fix on-page evidence (claims, numbers, structure), earn third-party comparison-page citations, strengthen your entity footprint, monitor weekly, and ship implementation packs against the gaps with the highest opportunity score.

Step 1 — Diagnose at the prompt level

Aggregate scores hide the answer. Pull the prompts where you're absent, partially present, or beaten by a specific competitor. The prompts with high commercial intent and low brand visibility are your top targets.

Step 2 — Upgrade the on-page evidence

Generative engines preferentially quote pages with extractable facts. For each target prompt, the landing page should have:

  • A one-line claim that directly answers the prompt, near the top.
  • Specific numbers, dates, named customers — not adjectives.
  • A structured comparison (table or list) where a competitor is named.
  • An FAQ block with the literal prompt as a question.
  • Schema.org markup (FAQPage, Product, Organization, BreadcrumbList).

Step 3 — Earn third-party citations

The single highest-leverage move is getting listed in third-party "best X" and "X vs Y" pages. Identify the URLs AI engines already cite for your target prompts (your Source Influence Score report shows this), then run PR / partnerships / outreach to be added.

Step 4 — Strengthen your entity footprint

AI engines lean on structured knowledge. Make sure your brand, products, founders and locations are present and consistent on Wikipedia, Wikidata, Crunchbase, LinkedIn, and your own /about and /team pages with clear schema.

Step 5 — Monitor weekly, act on opportunity score

Re-sample the prompt set weekly. Sort gaps by opportunity score (commercial intent × competitive risk × confidence) and ship the top 5 every cycle. Don't optimise everything — optimise what moves revenue.

Step 6 — Use implementation packs

For each gap, generate an implementation pack: objective, target prompts, evidence, recommended page type, H1/title/meta, internal links, schema, sources to target and success metric. Hand the pack to the content or PR team; track delivery against the score.

Pair this with the tracking playbook for the measurement side, and the methodology page for confidence guidance.

How long until I see results?+
Perplexity and Gemini reflect new pages within days. ChatGPT and Claude can take 2–6 weeks as their retrieval corpora refresh. Citation-driven gains (third-party 'best X' inclusions) usually move share of voice within one to two weekly scans.
Do I need to write new pages, or fix existing ones?+
Usually both. Start by upgrading existing pages on prompts where you already half-rank — clearer claims, explicit numbers, structured comparisons. Then commission net-new pages for prompts where you don't appear at all.
Does AI visibility need a separate team?+
No. It belongs with whoever owns SEO and content today — they already have the brief, the writers and the analytics. The platform changes (citations vs. links) but the workflow is the same.
